Water that comes up through a floor drain, toilet or shower is classified as Category 3, or “black water”. It carries bacteria, viruses and other contaminants, and it soaks into everything it touches: carpet, underpad, drywall, insulation and the bottom plates of your walls.
That changes the job. Porous materials that absorbed sewage generally cannot be cleaned and have to be removed under IICRC S500 guidelines. Everything that stays is cleaned, disinfected and dried to verified readings. A shop vac and a bottle of bleach can spread contamination through the house instead of removing it, which is why we set up containment before we start.
Until we arrive: keep children and pets out of the area, avoid touching the water, do not run fixtures that drain into the backed-up line, and stay away from outlets or appliances in standing water.

Not sure if it is sewage or clean water? Call and describe it. If the water came up through a drain or toilet, treat it as contaminated until we test it.
Sewage and standing water removed with truck-mounted and portable units, then disposed of properly.
Poly barriers and negative air keep contamination from spreading to the rest of the house.
Carpet, pad, drywall and insulation that absorbed sewage are removed and bagged under IICRC S500.
Every remaining surface is cleaned, then treated with a registered antimicrobial.
Air movers and dehumidifiers dry framing and subfloor to verified target readings.
HEPA air scrubbing and deodorization so the smell does not come back.
Photos, moisture logs and an itemized scope sent directly to your adjuster.
Drywall, flooring and finishes put back under one contract, start to finish.
We answer live, tell you what to avoid touching, and dispatch a crew immediately.
We confirm the source, check for electrical hazards and seal off the affected area.
Sewage is extracted, unsalvageable materials are removed, and every surface is cleaned and disinfected.
Drying equipment runs until moisture readings hit target. Readings are logged daily.
We repair what was removed and hand back a clean, dry, safe basement.
The equipment, containment and methods we bring to every loss.

Extraction and drying equipment comes off the truck on the first visit, not after an estimate.

Truck-mounted and portable units pull standing water out before it soaks further into the structure.

Air movers and LGR dehumidifiers sized to the affected volume, adjusted daily against meter readings.
Illustrative images of our equipment and methods. Project photography will be added as jobs complete.
Often only if your policy includes a sewer backup endorsement. On many Ontario home policies it is an optional add-on, so check your policy or call your broker. Either way, we document everything and work directly with most major insurers.
It is not recommended. Sewage is Category 3 water and carries bacteria and viruses. Without containment and protective equipment, a DIY cleanup can spread contamination through the house. Keep people and pets out of the area and call a certified crew.
Hard, non-porous items can usually be cleaned and disinfected. Porous materials that absorbed sewage, such as carpet, underpad, drywall and insulation, are generally removed under IICRC guidelines. We walk you through it item by item.
Heavy rain overloading municipal sewers, tree roots or grease blocking your lateral line, a collapsed pipe, or a failed backwater valve. After the cleanup, a plumber can camera the line. Many Ontario cities offer subsidies toward a backwater valve.
Extraction and removal usually happen the same day. Drying typically takes 3 to 5 days depending on the materials, followed by repairs. You get a timeline after the first assessment.
Every hour sewage sits, more material has to come out and the risk to your household grows. Call now and a crew is on the way.
